The weekend was very well supported – 36 took part, of which 34 golfers. Several non Standard Athletic Club members were invited this time, and we all enjoyed sunny, if chilly, weather. In addition, and this seems to be a constant for us golfers, the wind always seemed to be unfavourable…..

As usual, we played our individual competition for the Kiwi Cup on Saturday. The course proved to be very challenging for most of us; very long par 4 holes, seemingly all uphill and against the wind, and a great number of extremely deep bunkers.  The standard of the greens was a disappointment, providing a convenient excuse for us to register what we can only describe as disappointing scores.

The Kiwi Cup, for which only Standard Athletic Club members are eligible, and goes to the best net Stableford score, was won by Sue Hall.

The best net score by a Standard Athletic Club member was recorded by Ebba Dean with 34 points.

The Dean Trophy rewards the best gross score and was won by Villarceaux committee member Caroline Icart who also recorded the best overall net stableford score of 36 points.

On Sunday, we played a less stressful scramble competition where the winning teams were:

1st Jean-Pierre Delage, Bertrand Delacroix and Jonathan Riches

2nd James Moore, Alison Lavelle and Peter Hall

3rd Caroline Icart, Jill and Malcolm Forrest

4th Douglas Anderson, Pat Cully and Michael Humphries

Claude Jacques organized our weekend and he was unanimously congratulated by all present.
