The Golf Section held its Autumn weekend away at the Limère course near Orléans from Friday October 3 to Sunday October 5. A rather small contingent of SAC stalwarts, augmented by a select group of friends from Villarceaux, experienced an extremely pleasant weekend and a very friendly atmosphere. Organiser James Moore got the weather right, organised excellent food both at the club house and at the hotel, and as far as the golf is concerned, let us say that James cannot be held responsible….  

On Saturday we played our “serious” competition of the weekend in singles stableford. The Kiwi Cup had its 30^th outing and was won by Andrew Dean on a count back from Marie-France Murphy, both with a more than creditable score of 34 points on the challenging Limère layout. Roland Bouloux, although not an SAC member, has been an ever present over many years on our weekends away, and once again won the Dean Trophy for the best gross score with an excellent card of 28 (gross stableford points).

As usual we played a less intimidating form of golf on Sunday. This time, we all enjoyed a 4-ball scramble “à la française”. Just four teams competed, and the scores were extremely tight. The team of Roland Bouloux, Jacques Botto (Villarceaux President), Joyce Jacques, and Ebba Dean won with 41 points. The other three teams all scored 40 points, and the count back came into action again! This time, Andrew Dean and Marie-France Murphy were on the same side, along with Jenny Pratt and Jean Deschênes (secretary of Villarceaux) and their back nine of 21 points pipped the others for second place.

Well done to all the winners and also to those who did not win prizes for making this a weekend to remember.
