10th DecemberAt last the Adult Squash Ladder can start!Below an outline of the rules. A ranking table is up at the club and most players (Team 1 and 2 at least, as we need to show the exemple for other players !) will find their name up. Nethertheless feel free to remove your name if you do not want to participate. As you will see some players will find themselves challenged by their position - this is also the idea and should create dynamics. Do let me or Sean Lafleur know if you feel some rankings needs to be changed. After Xmas break, we will probably ask you for a small fee SAC - Squash Ladder Rules
IMPORTANT: Losers will always tend to welcome a drink after a game !! Enjoy !!Don't understand? Click to translate this page! 22nd OctoberHello SAC squash players, Remember it’s the last Sunday of the month this coming week-end (and a change of clock to boot). Keep a place in your plans to drop in for squash games from 2-5pm. Losers buy the drinks and the winners gloat. Thanks to David Moore who has volunteered to run this month’s drop-in tournament since I’ll be away in Canada. Last month we had 15 players, including four children, a good turnout and a lot of fun. Blaise Thomas (winning the Oakley glasses and keeping them in the family) was the winner and Jocelyn Kiefe, the runner-up (bottle of wine offered by Flower). Congratulations to Blaise and Jocelyn. I heard from many of you last time that you’d like to come back and do this again and also from some of you that you could not make the last one but were counting on coming in October. Let’s build a little tradition. 25th SeptDear squash members past and present, and friends of squash at the SAC, Hold that space! We invite you and you favourite neighbourhood squash players to participate in our season opening do, Sunday September 30, from 2pm to 5pm: Drop in, play squash, and have a laugh together. Losers buy the beer (or drink/poison of choice of the winner) after each match. Quick round-robin format. (Tasteful illustration and paperboard results system provided by Esmé Lafleur.) All welcome: be ye member, former member, friend or foe. Yes, it’s the first of a new tradition: Sunday Squash for Suds! We’ll be hosting one each month, on the last Sunday of the month, same time, same channel. Free entry. Easy to remember, Hard to forget: you get the picture. I’ll be announcing the official sponsor of our Season Opener next week. The bidding has already started… You’ll be amazed at the prizes… Stay tuned for more details. Sign up with me by email or just show up on the day. Limited to 20 players maximum, no limit on the drinkers. See you soon on the courts, Sean 12th SeptHi everyone, Back to school and back to squash… Here is an outline of this year’s program for our youngsters: 1. Lessons will be offered in 45 minute groups on Wednesday afternoons 14h30 – 16h and Saturdays 12h45-15h. We need at least 8 on Wednesday to confirm adding the day to Youssouf’s schedule. 2. Lessons to start Saturday September 29th. Ten lessons before Christmas. Twelve after. No lessons on school holiday weekends. 3. Youssouf Mahamath (professional with a brevet d’état in squash coaching) will once again lead the teaching, with men’s team members filling in and providing a little different style on two Saturdays before Christmas and on two more after Christmas. 4. We’ll organise a children’s tournament on a final Saturday in May to wrap up the season. 5. Children will have a chance to participate in an outside tournament at another club if they’d like to do so during the season. 6. Cost for the full year: 200 euros, including lessons, tournament and the squash section membership and FFS licence. 7. Once we have all the sign-ups we will do our best to accommodate special requests for scheduling and the schedule is designed to allow kids to do both football and squash at the club on Saturdays. It may be possible to offer a Sunday group from 13h30 to 14h15 as last year, but that is not yet confirmed. In order to sign up, two options: 1. Do so at the club with the other kids’ activities this Wednesday or Saturday. 2. Respond by email (sean@flowerchange.com) indicating: name, address, date of birth and nationality (all needed for licence). Send a check to the SAC to me for 200 euros. Feedback from last year’s program (reports and kids’ visible progress) has been really good with also some suggestions for improvement. Youssouf is a very structured and methodical teacher, who will provide a great set of fundamentals for everyone. He will try to work in some more competition and games into the regular coaching and make use of both courts to achieve this. The men’s team will add a little razzle-dazzle when possible. Please let me know if you have any questions. Look forward to seeing you at the club near (or on) the courts, Best regards, Sean PS Youssouf will be coaching the men’s team and other adult groups on Saturdays from 3pm. Let me know if you’re interested!
