The Standard Athletic Club is an International English-speaking Sports
and Social Club set in the beautiful forest of Meudon, south-west of Paris, some
10 kms from the Etoile.
Founded in 1890 by a group of young British businessmen,
the SAC has been in Meudon since 1922. A country club at the gates of Paris with
an oasis of green lawns, trees and flowers, it is close to, yet
remote from the Parisbustle.
Open to all ages, the whole family can
enjoy their favourite sports, as well as make plenty of friends in an informal,
Anglo-Saxon atmosphere.
Subscriptions are comparable with
other clubs, with reduced rates for children, students and juniors.

Social Facilities
In the Clubhouse you will find a fully licensed bar, at
competitive prices and extensive restaurant and catering facilities, a
full-size snooker table, a bridge room and a children's playroom. There
are regular Sunday Brunches, Thursday 'Pub Nights', dinner dances, summer barbecues and a wide
variety of other social events.
Children are very well catered for, particularly on Wednesday afternoons, with
coaching sessions in many sports. There are two children's playgrounds. Other
activities include a traditional Sports Day, Swimming Gala, Guy Fawkes' and
Christmas parties for all ages.
Our Club Members
Our current membership is truly
international, and is made up of both permanent residents and expatriates. With
its British origins, the Club retains a majority of English-speaking members.
However, there are many other different nationalities, and Commonwealth
countries, together with North America, are particularly well represented.
General Information
The Club is run by a Management Committee which is appointed at each Annual General Meeting. The clubhouse is the responsibility of the House Committee and each Sports Section has its own committee.
It is a tradition of the Standard Athletic Club that it is managed by volunteer members on behalf of all the members. If you feel you can devote some time to the Club, you will be more than welcome. This is also an excellent way to meet other members.
Subscriptions
Members pay an annual subscription fee
and a one-off joining fee which is refunded pro-rata if you leave the Club
within three years. There are reduced rates for students, young adults and
